The Vision
Formerly a 1960s Royal Mail sorting office, the iconic Bendigo Building has been transformed into True Nottingham. This landmark Purpose-Built Student Accommodation (PBSA) development breathes new life into a long-vacant site, providing 661 premium beds for students at Nottingham Trent and the University of Nottingham.
Project Scope
Project ff&e were appointed by Graham to design, supply, and install all fixed and loose furniture for this PBSA project, covering:
• 453 Studios
• 208 En-suite cluster bedrooms
• 38 Cluster kitchens
• Extensive ground-floor amenity zones
The Delivery
Spanning two towers (rising to Level 12 and Level 8), this project demanded a high-intensity, well-resourced approach. Our team managed a simultaneous 40-week programme across both buildings, consistently achieving installation rates of 28 rooms per week at first fix stage.
Key highlights of our delivery included:
• Precise Sequencing: Working across multiple floors and two active towers required a highly organised strategy. We maintained a strict sequencing of materials and labour to ensure seamless integration with the wider construction programme.
• Dedicated On-site Leadership: Managed by a Site Manager, Supervisor, and Team Leader for total quality control and real-time coordination.
• Agile Logistics: When vertical distribution challenges arose, our team quickly pivoted our logistics and sequencing plans to maintain momentum without disruption.
• Scalable Resource: Utilising a trusted fitting team and strong local labour, we ensured continuity and efficiency throughout the 40-week schedule.
The Outcome
Through agile logistics and a proactive approach, we ensured the seamless transformation of the historic Bendigo Building. The result is 661 beds of high-quality PBSA that meets the evolving demands of Nottingham’s student community.
